Why does everyone call me Namaste?

I first heard the term in 2003 at a Millionaire Mind Intensive seminar.  It really resonated with me and I ended up using it as my playa name at Burning Man in 2005.  The nickname stuck and that's what people began calling me in both real life and at EDM massives.  It felt right, unlike my real name that had always felt wrong for some unknown reason.  My mother wasn't fond of my nickname but at Thanksgiving in 2011 she shared her secret with me.  Her and my father had tried to come up with a name for me before I was born.  Nothing felt right.  Finally they gave me my name and figured I'd change it one day.  After hearing that I considered legally changing my name to Namaste but something stopped me.  In 2014,     I finally figured out why Namaste came into my life.  It's a tool for becoming the kind of person I'd always wanted to be.  Attempting to live into the definition each day is truly challenging but it's worth it.  Being called Namaste constantly reminds me to treat others with a deep level of respect and to acknowledge the greatness within them.  I’ve found that when I do this, others respond in kind and life is amazing.

What does Namaste mean?

I honor the place in you where Spirit lives,

I honor the place in you which is of Love, of Truth, of Light, of Peace,

when you are in that place in you,

and I am in that place in me,

then we are One.
